Wheel Good Vibes C.I.C
A community interest company set up with one aim... to spread positivity through cycling
Founded in 2022
Wheel Good Vibes C.I.C was set up by Dominic Williams and Hettie Knox with a simple belief: bikes can do a lot more than just get people from A to B.
◉ Spreading Positivity Through Cycling
Wheel Good Vibes started from a pretty simple idea — bikes make people feel good, and we wanted to use that to do something positive in our community.
We’re not trying to reinvent cycling or make everything overly serious. We just want to create more opportunities for people to ride bikes, learn something new, meet people and feel like they’re part of something.
That might mean helping someone get back on a bike after years away from riding, taking somebody out on their first group ride, showing them how to fix a puncture, helping a child get their first proper bike or simply giving people a reason to get outside for a few hours.
Cycling can be...
Transport. Exercise. Freedom. Therapy. Adventure. Friendship.
Sometimes all of those things at once.
We want more people to experience that.
◉ Wheel Good Sisterhood
Wheel Good Sisterhood is our women’s cycling group.
We wanted to create something that felt welcoming and relaxed, particularly for women who perhaps didn’t feel confident joining a traditional cycling club or who just wanted to ride without worrying about speed, kit, Strava times or whether they were “good enough”.
The priority is simple:
Getting out and enjoying riding together.
Some people come along with loads of experience. Some are getting back into cycling after years away. Others might be riding in a group for the first time.
That’s exactly how we like it.
The Sisterhood is about confidence, friendship and encouraging each other. Nobody gets dropped and nobody needs to turn up looking like they’re about to start the Tour de France.
Bring your bike. Bring yourself. Come for a ride and enjoy a coffee with a nice slice of cake :)
◉ Free Bike Mechanics Sessions
One thing we kept hearing from people was that they loved riding their bike but had absolutely no idea what to do when something went wrong.
So we decided to do something about it.
We ran a block of completely free bike mechanics sessions, giving people the chance to get hands-on and learn some useful basics without having to pay for a course or feel embarrassed about asking questions.
Some of the things we covered:
✓ Fixing punctures
✓ Basic bike adjustments
✓ Looking after your drivetrain
✓ Simple maintenance
✓ Understanding what all those mysterious bike parts actually do
The idea isn’t to turn everyone into a professional mechanic.
It’s just about giving people enough knowledge that a rubbing brake or a flat tyre doesn’t automatically mean the end of their ride.
More free mechanics sessions are coming.
◉ The Little Bike Project
This is one of the projects we’re particularly excited about.
The Little Bike Project is about getting bikes to children who otherwise might not have one.
Most of us probably remember what having a bike meant when we were kids. Suddenly your world got bigger. You could go exploring, ride to your mate’s house, race around the park and disappear off on little adventures.
Every child deserves the opportunity to experience that.
The aim is to find bikes, get them safe and working properly and then get them to children and families who will genuinely benefit from them.
It’s a fairly simple idea, but sometimes the simple ideas are the good ones.
A bike can give a child exercise and independence, but it can also give them confidence, friendships and memories they’ll have for years.
And ultimately, putting more kids on bikes is never going to be a bad thing.
◉ Community Events
Not everything we do has to have Wheel Good Vibes written across the top of it.
There are already loads of brilliant people and organisations doing good things locally, and sometimes the best thing we can do is get involved and help.
Projects we've supported
She’s Electric
Encouraging more women to discover electric bikes and cycling.
Sue Ryder Ride
Supporting the work of Sue Ryder.
Clean Air Day
Promoting cycling and other ways of getting around without automatically jumping in the car.
Sometimes that means bringing bikes. Sometimes it means bringing people. Sometimes it means helping organise something, talking to riders or simply turning up and getting stuck in.
We like working with other local organisations because everyone brings something different to the table.
And generally, when a few good people combine their ideas and resources, you can achieve considerably more than you would on your own.
◉ What's Next?
We’ve got loads of ideas.
Probably too many, if we’re honest.
We want to run more free mechanics sessions, grow the Sisterhood, develop the Little Bike Project, support more local events and find completely new ways of using bikes to bring people together.
Some of the best projects we’ve been involved with have come from simply having a conversation with somebody and saying:
“Yeah, we could probably make that happen.”
So if you’re a local business, community group, charity, school, cycling organisation or just someone with a genuinely good idea, we’d love to hear from you.
You might want to support one of our existing projects. You might have something you'd like us to get involved with. Or you might have an idea neither of us has thought of yet.
If it gets more people riding bikes, helps somebody out or puts a few more good vibes into the world, we’re probably interested.
